Ziggy missed the people and especially the deli food, so he moved back to the United States. landed in Houston, and opened a Jewish deli. His story, augmented by stories of iconic delis such as Ketch's, Second Avenue Deli, Nat N Al, Carnegie, and the stage, Embodying a tradition indelibly linked to its salty and nostalgic foods.

In addition to the story of Ziggy Gruber - a third generation "deli man" and the film's genius tour guide - the documentary is also a history of the American institution of the Jewish deli.
