Guest Speaker: Terry Horowitz: Robert St. John: "Righteous Gentile

    Shabbat, Jan 26th 9:00a to 12:00p
Robert St. John was the NBC correspondent who announced the end of the WWII from London. He covered the 1956 war in Israel, published bio of Ben Gurion, came back to the United States and married a Jewish woman. He and wrote 20 books--including three on Israel in one year (and many more on Israel and Jewish life). He covered all of American conflicts in the last 70 years and became the dean of American war correspondents. He became "Ben Gurion's "goyisha friend," Truman's confidant and Nasser's "boss." St.John gave hundreds of lectures to raise money for Israel throughout his life. At Yad Vashem he was named a "righteous gentile" for saving a Jewish family during an Iron Guard pogrom in Bucharest. Yet for all his work for Israel and the Jewish people, there has been little known about his life and what he did for Israel in the media and university circles. Terry Fred Horowitz, who wrote "The Merchant of Words, the Life of Robert St. John," shares his expertise on this little-known but fascinating man who was seduced by Israel and his love for the Jewish people.
