Over the course of five weeks (concluding in time for Hanukkah), Rabbi Judah Kogen will discuss the usefulness of relying on the Bible as a source for studying Ancient Israelite History. We know some of Israel's history through archeological discoveries. We can learn some of it from source material from neighboring cultures. The Bible has more information on our subject than all other materials combined. How can we tell what is factual and what may merely be legend? One key will be determining when particular stories were written - contemporaneously or long after the fact. What motivated the different authors in telling us what they did? If you are interested, join us for five one-hour sessions in November and early December.
