U.S.-Israel Cooperation on Counterterrorism Michael B. Kraft, co-author of a new book on the U.S. Government’s counterterrorism efforts since the 1972 Munich massacre of Israeli Olympic athletes, will speak on the international terrorism threat and the American counter-measures, with a focus on the cooperation with Israel and other allies. Mike is a veteran of 20 years in the State Department’s Counterterrorism Office and the faculty of the National Defense University. Previously, he was staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Middle East Subcommittee. A Silver Spring resident, since retirement from government, he has written two other counterterrorism books and contributed chapters to half a dozen others as well as written op-eds and for a counterterrorism blog and consulted for Defense Department and Department of Homeland Security projects. Before joining the Senate staff, he was the chief congressional correspondent for Reuters, and earlier he was a correspondent based in London and Central Africa. He became involved in Middle East issues while an editor on the United Press International Middle East desk in London during the 1967 war.
