100 Voices: A Journey Home - An “Academy Nominated” unique film presentation hosted by Cantors Joel Lichterman & Randy Herman
Sunday, January 24, 2021 • 11 Shevat 5781
1:00 PM - 3:00 PMZoomLISTEN TO A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM CANTOR JOEL LICHTERMAN
A uniquely compelling and moving musical documentary that celebrates the history and rebirth of Jewish culture in Poland - the birthplace of cantorial music - as it follows the Cantors Assembly’s Mission to Poland in 2009. Above all, the film celebrates the resilience and the power of Jewish life, while telling the story of two peoples who shared intertwined cultures.
Cantors Randy Herman and HTAA's 2014 Scholar-in-Residence, Joel Lichterman both participated in this historic mission. Cantors Joel and (brother) Ivor Lichterman’s father, Hazzan Jakub Lichterman z”l, survived the Holocaust as the last cantor of Warsaw’s only surviving synagogue. For the Lichterman family, 100 Voices has been a journey from heartbreak to celebration, from destruction to new life and continuity.
Both Cantors Joel and Ivor Lichterman will join Cantor Herman as we watch and discuss the film, with time at the end for question & answer.
