JCRC’s 2016 YOM Ha’SHOAH v’ Ha’GVURAH Reflects upon “Seeking Truth & Justice – 70 Years After Nuremberg” Keynote Speaker: Peter Black, former Justice Department Investigator for the Office of Special Investigations (in pursuit of Nazis in the U.S.) Sunday, May 1 12:30 – 2:00 Art & Artifacts Exhibits, Reading of Names, Youth & Dor L’ Dor Program 2:00 – 3:30 pm Community Commemoration B’nai Israel Congregation 6301 Montrose Road, Rockville www.jcouncil.org/YomHaShoahMD Roles for CLERGY, CANTORS & CHOIRS, SURVIVORS, YOUTH, ART, INFORMATION & ARTIFACTS DISPLAY The JCRC continues to evolve the annual Holocaust Commemoration to honor survivors, martyrs and liberators, while providing an opportunity to engage the widest possible audiences in Jewish and interfaith community in a spiritual, personal and commemorative manner. As we move forward with these efforts, we enlist the help and participation of our synagogue leaders: - Clergy: will have reading roles in the commemoration, please save the date and rsvp to dlinick@jcouncil.org - Cantors and Choirs are invited to participate in the community choir, which will be led by CBI’s Cantor Josh Perlman. Three rehearsal dates will be sent by Jan 2016, kindly alert your singers and rsvp your interest before that time to cantorjosh@bnaiisraelcong.org / cc: dlinick@jcouncil.org or visit www.jcouncil.org/MDChoir - Survivors & Children of Survivors: will be recognized by name at the lighting of the 6th community candle. If survivors in your community have biographical displays or your religious school or adults in your community have created pieces or “Remember A Child of the Holocaust” material, please contact Sonia Beekman, (yomhashoah@harshalom.org / 301-208-7007) - Youth Holocaust Program: JCRC’s Education Outreach Director Steve Adleberg is coordinating with the Education Directors Committee and Holocaust Survivor Groups to develop a meaningful teen program prior to commemoration. We welcome synagogue religious programs and day schools to coordinate for their students’ participation.
