8:00 PM - 9:00 PMHar Tzeon-Agudath AchimA New 7-week Course with Rabbi Joshua Dachman
Tuesdays, 8:00 - 9:00 pm
For millennia, Jews have delved into the Hebrew Bible for meaning, guidance, and inspiration. Scholars in every place where Jews have lived composed biblical commentaries to make the Bible ever relevant for their societies. In this 7-week course, we will look at the features which characterize the approaches of the various schools of biblical commentary and the primary issues that were important to them. Our journey will take us through clashing philosophical approaches, vibrant religious polemics, and fascinating biblical composition.
Rabbi Dachman is a Ph.D candidate in Bible at Yeshiva University, where he also received his semicha. He has taught biblical interpretation at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on biblical interpretation of Jews in Islamic lands.
Cost: $54 for entire course (pay online or send check to the office).
