Congregation Har Tzeon - Agudath Achim
Baal Koreh: Samuel Leibowitz
Chazzan Ben Bazian
Chazzan Abraham Isser
Cantor Isser has been steeped in liturgical music since the age of 5. Growing up in Israel, he listened and learned the Cantorial art from his grandfather who had been a Cantor in Bratislava, Slovakia before World War II, and later in Israel.
Cantor Isser would later sing in Jerusalem's Great Synagogue choir and study voice and music with the great Cantors of the time, Cantor Ravitz and Cantor Polak.
Cantor Isser has been part of the clergy staff of Congregation Har Tzeon-Agudath Achim since 1996 and performs throughout the year during Shabbat services, the High Holidays and all other Jewish festivals.
Chazzan Benjamin Bazian began his singing career at the age of 7 when he was a soloist for the Samuel Sterner Choir at Grossingers Hotel in Liberty, NY.  He subsequently sang with the choirs of Oscar Julius and Chazzan Leon Berger.  As an adult he was a member of the Jewish Ministers Cantors Association Chorus and sang under the guidance of Seymour Silbermintz.
Chazzan Bazian received his Cantorial training under the guidance of his father, Cantor Moshe Bazian, and is the 8th generation of Cantors in the Bazian family.   At the age of 20 Chazzan Bazian engaged his first position as the Chazzan at Lindenhurst Jewish Center in Lindenhurst, NY where he officiated for 5 years.  Subsequently he officiated at Shellbank Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NY and Deluth MN, prior to joining Har Tzeon Agudath Achim.
Samuel Leibowitz, a lawyer, grew up in Israel, and learned from his father Elhanan z"l the chanting of the "trope" or "ta'amei mikra" - the special musical cantillation symbols for reading the Torah. As a teenager, Samuel frequently leined Torah in Israeli shuls. During his army service as a tank gunner, he leined for his unit's soldiers in the Negev desert and the Golan Heights. Samuel teaches in Har Tzeon - Agudath Achim's religious school, and gives classes to youth of the synagogue about the singing of Torah and Haftorah tropes.
In 1995, Rabbi Landman was instrumental in forming a community High School known as "Tichon." He has served as its Director since its inception and has attracted many Jewish teenagers including those from Hebrew Schools, Day Schools and Unaffiliated.
In recognition of his many years of service as a Congregational Rabbi - Rabbi Landman was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Hebrew Literature by the Jewish Theological Seminary in November 1996.
Rabbi Landman is married to Gila and they have four children and ten grandchildren.
